The mission of the BRCS music department is to provide a Christ-centered, sequential curriculum that enables students to discover, develop, and demonstrate their God-given talents so they will seek excellence in worship and have a lifelong appreciation for music.

PK-3 Music

In kindergarten through third grade, music classes emphasize fundamentals and music theory, along with rhythm activities, pitch matching, and correct singing techniques. Students enjoy interactive movement, classroom instruments, exposure to a variety of musical styles and composers, and learning hymns as a core to our Christian faith and heritage.

4-8 Music

Fourth through Eighth Grade Music is a performance oriented class that introduces the fundamentals of music through the disciplines of singing, playing chimes and playing hand bells. Through the entire year, students learn vocal pedagogy, basic music theory, and performance techniques and perform at events including Grandparent’s Day, the ACSI Music Festival, and King’s Dominion Music Festival.

High School Choir

The high school choir program is designed to further develop students’ musicianship through exploration of vocal technique, sight-reading, music theory, and music history. Students perform a wide range of music from a variety of cultures and periods. The high school choir performs both in the school and for the community.
